When A Dream Comes True- Kill Me Heal Me Pre-Review Post

First of all, I was sick not to mention half way across the country but if I was HOME I would have found out a long time ago!

One day, I was randomly scrolling around on MyDramalist when I decided to check out Hwang Jung Eum's MyDramalist page and I saw that she had a new drama thats airing so I clicked on the page, checked out the cast list and lo and behold guess who I saw!? JI. SUNG!!!

I kept reading their names over and over again to see if I was getting selective vision but NOPE it wasn't selective vision!!! My Secret couple was reunited!! That means...one of my dream pairings became reality!

Honestly, I could barely calm down enough to read the synopsis. And frankly, I really didn't care what the synopsis said.
Symptoms exhibited:
-I kept thinking "i'm I seeing right?"
-Rubbing my eyes
-had trouble breathing.
-couldn't really spell or write properly
-tightness in lower abdomen
-sweaty palms
So long story short, I was FUH-REAKING OUT!!

Lets fast forward a bit now because i've watched 7 episodes now and I can genuinely say the show is off to a great start. The first few episodes were hilarious but as you go on, the layers continue to get peeled and then you really get to see the heart of the show.

When I saw Hwang Jung Eum’s name and Sex Personified’s name I could barely believe my eyes.

Let me quote myself real quick. This what I said in my Dream Pairings post

"Unlike the Frozen Flower couple, I want them to still star in another serious drama but maybe not as sad as Secret cuz I can't stand to see Hwang Jung Eum cry again. Just something that's really well balanced like intense and fast paced but also comedic with lots of romance juseyo"

And I'm so overjoyed because this is exactly what I'm getting with Kill Me Heal Me. It's not nearly as intense and sad as Secret but it's still serious (I mean, we're talking about mental health here) but at the same time its ridiculously funny and filled with so many hilarious and cute moments. I honestly cannot wait to see what else this drama has in store for the viewers and I know that Ji Sung can pull off all this different personalities because he's a brilliant actor.

I saw some comments that were like "i didn't real like the lead guy at first but now I LOVE HIM! He's so handsome and sexy! OMG!"and I was like

Do not underestimate the power of Ji Sung. There's a reason I call him Sex Personified. I'll just leave it at that.
Anyway, I can't wait for my other Dream Pairings to come true. The one I have my fingers crossed extra tight for is Lee Min Ho and Yoon Eun Hye. PLEEEEASE KDRAMAS GODS! MAKE THIS ONE HAPPEN!!

It's Okay, That's Love Review

K, let me tryta start this one off nice, slow and calmly.

As of now, I've seen 2 movies and 4 dramas starring Gong Hyo Jin. Impressive huh?
Crush and Blush had me like "what the fuck?" the whole time. needless to say, it's a pretty weird movie, Love Fiction was AWESOME  and I LOVED her character in it, Pasta was mostly bearable with a few redeemable qualities, Greatest Love was super funny and  Cha Seung Won was in it so you know I loved it, Master's Sun was really great but a tad bit overrated,  and now we have, *dum dum dum*... It's Okay That's Love 

FIRST OF ALL,
I would give the OST alone an A+++. I loved the OST to the point where it hurt but felt so good at the same time. very very  bittersweet. the songs just resonated with me for some reason. I feel like the OST alone deserves it's own review. So well thought out with so many interesting song choices. Everything about this drama was well thought out. Like, I want to know the MINDS that created this. (oh gawd, I promised to be calm and take things nice and slow but i'm about to go awf a little. Le sigh.) 

I need a two hour documentary on how they found the songs for the OSTs, why they chose each and every song, the inspirations for the themes of the drama, the inspirations for the characters, reasons why they choice the actors that got casted, what other themes they'll like to explore in future dramas, if they've already started sculpting a new script. Like when I say I want to know everything I.want.to.know

(**EDIT** I referred to the writer as "they" in my overly-excited rambling but after some extensive research, [*cough* wikipedia *cough*] I found out that "they" is 1 person and HER name is Noh Hee Kyung and she also wrote Padam Padam and she's brilliant and I wanna know more about her soo bad! anyway,  back to the review). 


This is probably one of the realest Kdramas ever made. The topic of sex was mentioned like so many times in the first 2 episode alone and that kinda took me by surprise a lil bit. 

I mean, I watch a lot of American TV shows so its not like i'm uncomfortable with sex (I watch Masters of Sex, for goodness' sake!) but this is a KOREAN DRAMA. most times the highest they'll reach is an allusion (i.e bed scene; nothing explicit, of course) or like  one character lightly teasing another character about watching porn but not an honest convo about sex! Anyway, I just found that refreshing so I had to mention it.

The actress that played Hae Soo's mom has been EVERYTHING. I'm pretty sure she was in Master's Sun too. 
Damn that woman is hardworking!! she's been everyone's mom, aunt, relative e.t.c its like she doesn't sleep at all.


It's Okay, That's Love, it just... it just  a bit of a Coffee prince feeling for me. Ya know, Great OST, super great acting, palpable and authentic chemistry between the two leads e.t.c. There was just so many emotions to experience through these characters. It was like my Kdrama cherry was being re-popped; It felt great but my insides felt uncomfortable at the same time. 

 There were just too many heartwarming scenes to count. I literally could go on and on if I had the time. 
So much understanding and sensitivity when dealing with the theme of mental health and PTSD!! 
  
It felt like I was witnessing something timeless. It really sort of showed how beautiful and complicated human beings are.The words that kept popping into my mind while I was watching this drama are: THOUGHTFUL, TENDER. SENSITIVE, OBSERVANT, TOUCHING, WELL CRAFTED.  So it was basically, the perfect boyfriend.

With IOTL I saw something I had never seen in a Kdrama before. In anything, really. 
the dimensions of love and intimacy that the writers explored..?! like, they went to places that most Kdrama writers wouldn't dare go. 

Nothing felt too forced but it did feel deliberate which I noticed and appreciated. 

I know that everything i'm saying sounds rather vague but it's hard to pick one scene and be like "THAT ONE! THAT WAS THE SCENE THAT MADE THIS DRAMA SO FUCKING IMPACTFUL" because everything was just so flipping good!!

All the relationships seemed so organic! Each of their interactions had it's own little quirks and inside jokes and it almost felt like they existed outside the drama. 

There was something so...watchable about Jae Yul and Hae Soo. I got that feeling like I could literally watch them interact for hours. That made me happy but sad at the time. This kinda relates to the bittersweet-ness I got from the OST too. 
Like, I LOVED the lyrics of the OST songs so much and it felt awesome but at the same time it hurt because it somehow highlighted  the feeling of dissatisfaction I have with my love life and friendships.  

I really enjoyed Hae Soo as the main character. she was super blunt in an endearing way ( but sometimes she did irritate me when she would obsessively ask him about other women he's dated or pester him about the money he was spending on her but at the same time I understood that she had a hard time trusting men so she got a pass for that). 
She is such a modern day woman with her own set of values and belief systems. I found that I could relate to her on certain subjects and it felt pretty good to see that. 

It was really nice to see her step outta her shell and open up to the idea of being in love with Jae Yul. You could tell how much of an inner struggle she was having but it was really satisfying when she finally lets go and admits to liking him. 

I think this is something that a lot of people deal with, which is finding the courage to love and be loved by others. It may seem like nothing to some, but falling in love is fucking scary. But once you let go and let things happen it becomes much, much easier. 

I teared up a bit while i was watching the last  couple of scenes but I was alright. then when it was over, I went into my living room and my older sister (who has watched it already) was there and I started singing the opening song (♫ one apple, one palm fruit ♪). and she was like "wait... why are you singing that song?" and then, I, well... I broke down 

I started sobbing uncontrollably whilst laughing at the same damn time  
and she started laughing and saying "I don't even know how to react to this!"

It was such a hilarious situation but honestly, that has never happened to me before like EVER. I cried ALOT when I was watching Secret but not AFTER. I seriously was not expecting to have that sort of obvious emotional response to finishing this drama. I didn't even know what to expect. I thought I was okay I thought I was alright but now I think that singing that song triggered something in me. 

ANYWAYS, I think I've rambled on waaay too much. Long story short, If you haven't watched IOTL, just drop whatever drama you're watching right now. just drop it! and start watching IOTL because the oxford fucking dictionary doesn't have enough words to describe how breathtakingly amazing this drama is. 

SoYou Features

I'd be lying if I said Soyou is my bias in Sistar because everything about Hyorin is just so... idk.. I just love her and her voice.
but let me tell you... everyone and I mean EVERYONE needs to get into SoYou's musical work OUTSIDE of Sistar because....
bitch can SANG!

When I first go into Sistar my second bias was Bora  (and I didn't even know the difference between Dasom and SoYou. I didn't even know their names. shame on me, I know, But that was like 3 years ago).

But NOW, SoYou is competing with Hyorin for  #1 Sistar bias in my heart. And,umm, You didn't hear this from me but, the competition might get ugly.

But seriously tho, I can't even explain to you how much I LIVE for her collabos! the chorus from Some 

is currently my ringtone and sometimes I just let my phone ring so I can jam to it. That's how much I completely adore this song.

This whole situation has completely taken me by surprise because I totally wasn't expecting it. I'm pretty sure  Stupid Love

came out first and I just listened to it because I was like "why not?" so when I pressed play and the song just kept gettting better and better I was like

Don't even get me started on The Space Between.

This song gives me some typa soulful yet light and and sweet vibe. LIIIKE it feels like a song I've been waiting all my for.

My love for this song is fucking boundless. And i'm a fan of Urban Zakapa so I don't even know why I didn't hear this song IMMEDIATELY when it came out.  I know it only came out a few months ago but STILL.

So after some time had passed and I stopped obsessing over these 3 songs. I stopped and said "Wait, Why doesn't she get more promotion?"

It started to irk me because it feels like miss A and 4 Minute where Suzy and Hyuna seem to get LOADS more attention, music, promotion, CFs e.t.c, than aaalll the other members. and don't get me wrong, I love Suzy and I think she's beautiful and talented and Hyuna's my bad bitch and she already knew that, but it's frustrating to see great, talented girls being pushed to side all in the name of
 "there can only be one star". Why can't they get some goddamn equal attention!!? Why is so much talent being wasted!?

I'm 110% here for SoYou's SEMI-solo endeavors (cuz these ARE just collabos) and I look forward to discovering and  listening to more stuff from her and other girl group members who have been tragically and brutally pushed to the side just because their company only really cares about the member that they see as the cash cow.

Jo In Sung and Song Ji Hyo aka Frozen Couple
Because their scenes were, um, definitely far from frozen in Frozen Flower. I mean..

(yes, all the pics I posted are pretty tame. there's no way i'm posting pics of the super erotic, nude sex scenes they had. nuh uh. you're gonna have to look them up yourself. I only googled it for research purposes. I'm an innocent, pure young woman who would never post stuff like that.)

But seriously tho, I really want them to play completely different characters preferable in a rom com setting cuz Frozen Flower was HEAVY and DARK. But I still loved it tho.


Lee Min Ho and Yoon Eun Hye AKA Kiss Scene Olymopics Champs
Because they're both great kissers! I've been praying and hoping and praying and hoping they would do a drama together for YEARS!! When Yoon Eun Hye cameo'd on Personal Taste I was like

I started shipping it there and then even though she was only In like two scenes and we got like 10+ episodes of the build up for the main couple. No offense, Son Ye Jin but I totally forgot your character existed when Yoon Eun Hye showed up. But don't worry when she left I went back to normal. 

Now, let's go into the evidence locker and pull out some stuff shall we?

GAME OVER KISS

Lee Min Ho puts his all into his kiss scenes! Like I remember when I was watching Personal Taste  he grabbed her and said "game over mida" I FUH REAKED OUT! I just knew this kiss would go down in history. 

COLA KISS 

Goddammit this scene is so flipping sexy! The fact that they're like all sticky and sweet and covered in cola just adds to it. Of course I'd like to give a special shout out to Kang Ji Hwan cuz he was  holding it down too but Yoon Eun Hye was definitely an equal participant here. In fact, all her kiss scenes have been flawless like IDK how she does this. She's got talent alright. 

Just think about the magic that will manifest if we brought the two kissing champs together. The magic that will ensue. the effortless chemistry. GAH I need this one to happen. I've been wishing for this for YEARS! Make it happen Kdrama gods!! pleeese!

Ji Sung and Hwang Jung Eum

because Secret wasn't enough for me, I need to see them together again! Honestly Secret was a shocker fave for me cuz I did not expect to LOVE it as much as I do. It also made me realize that Ji Sung is sex personified and Hwang Jung Eum is a brilliant actress. Unlike the Frozen Flower couple, I want them to still star in another serious drama but maybe not as sad as Secret cuz I can't stand to see Hwang Jung Eum cry again. Just something that's really well balanced like intense and fast paced but also comedic with lots of romance juseyo. 

Jang Hyuk and Jeon Ji Hyun

I didn't really like their character dynamics in Windstruck that much but they did but they look good together so i'm thinking maybe they can take on a different dynamic. i'm thinking, Lee Gun vs. Cheon Song Yi?? That would be wanjeun daebak! Two big personalities in one one Kdrama!? Sign me up! 

They're both great actors, they're both good looking. have worked together before so the familiarity is already there.. like what are you waiting for? Start formulating a script!

And then there's Lee Gun

Lee Byung Hun and Kim So Yeon

i'm pretty sure I watched Iris like 2/3 years ago but guess what? I'm still mad that (SPOILER ALERT) their characters didn't end up together!! Their chemistry was so fucking palpable like when he would hold her hand or protect her or when she would comfort him and protect HIM?? GAH they were such a good match. I feel like the writers knew it and felt it but they were just like "well... she's the second female lead and we already started on this train with him finding his way back to the 1st female lead so... let's just stick with the original plan and stay on this train".

Shame on you writers! 

 I have nothing against Kim Tae Hee but like... I personally think Kim So Yeon is the superior actress by FAR but that's just me. Anyway, I could go on and go about why I think Lee Byung Hun and Kim So Yeon's characters were soulmates and should've ended up together in Iris but  you know what I would prefer? If they both starred in a completely new drama with new writers, new characters new EVERYTHING! I don't care what genre it is as long as they end up together.

 I get so saaaad and then I start singing along with Baek Ji Young's flawless vocals then I have to remind myself that its just a kdrama but I can't help it!! They were just so beautiful together!!So much wasted potential. 

K so that's it so far! I might make a part 2 if more ideas come to me but for now, these are the most urgent cases. I need them in dramas pronto!
