Lemme just start by saying I absolutely ADORE Kim Sun Ah. I've watched a bunch of her movies and dramas and I loved her in every single one of them (I feel like watching S Diary again). But, on the other hand, I don't really know much about Lee Dong Wook. I had never googled him before and I had never actually seen what he looked like until I watched this drama. And that is not a good thing AT ALL because this man is gorgeous. Like, I'm being dead serious; his face is just... and his lips...
Anyway, back to the drama. Usually with my reviews I generally don't like to go into details about EVERYTHING that happened in this drama but Its going to be so hard this time because there are so many things I want to discuss!
1) A round of applause for every single one of Ji Wook's "fuck it" moments ( moments where he just decided to do whatever he wanted and throw caution to the wind). These moments are what made Ji Wook one of my favorite Kdrama guys EVER. In situations where most Kdrama guys would get scared and hesitant, he was like "nope, I'm gonna do what I want to do". AND HE NEVER DOUBTED HIS DECISIONS OR SWAYED AWAY FROM THEM!! He was just so strong willed and brave and that made him awesome. He was blunt and honest and straight to the point and knew what he wanted and didn't want in his life. GAH I loved him.
Here it is if you want to watch it
I mean...it was just so fucking sexy.
first of all, he stepped up to her all determined and shit, like he knew exactly what he was going to do to her and how he was going to do it and then when he took off his jacket and rolled up his sleeves i was just like
the whole time I was like KISS HER.KISS HER.KISS HER. KISS HER.After the scene was over I was like "can i get a refill?!"
3) THE OST!! Can I just say that Junsu's voice is just so beautiful and wonderful (hehe if you listen to the song you'll probably get the joke).
4) I know I was previously raving about Ji Wook but lets talk about our main character because she was pretty awesome too. The great thing was really seeing her transform from the awkward, nerdy, passive, push over Patti into this confident, self assured woman who believed she could, so she did. It really took a fatal disease to make her realize that she needs to LIVE. It was sad but also heart-warming to see her take charge of her life and like Ji Wook, throw caution to the wind. She quit her job, got a new hairstyle, went on an expensive vacation and vowed to get revenge on the people who hurt her. just simply amazing.
5) Another thing I liked is that even when she frustrated me, I knew and understood where she was coming from. Because I think you can never predict how you'll react if you're told you only have a few months to live. You can only really guess but at the same time, your mind and emotions can be very hard to control in such horrible and difficult situations.
6) This drama really raises the question "what would you do if you found out you only have a few months to live?" Like I said, its kinda hard to really predict what you would do but ideally, I think I would do something like what Yeon Jae did; cross off everything on my bucket list, make everyone I love happy, Do something great for a stranger or two, volunteer with children, eat whatever I want, live my life the way I want to and find love (if I don't already have it).
But another question is "why don't we do all of this everyday?" in relation to the drama, why did it take CANCER to make Yeon Jae realize that she needs to find true happiness and love and do something substantial with her life? Does this mean that if she had never found out she had cancer, she never would have met the love of her life? Would she have just kept on doing the same boring thing every day until she died?
I'm really wondering if I decided to do all does things, how drastically would my life change? But life kinda has a way of fastening you to the idea that staying in the box is the best thing to do and I think maybe near death does the opposite. As you run out of days, you start to realize how valuable days are because you know that there is a high chance that you will not see that day the following year.
